So excited about Sunday’s action but I know my excitement doesn’t compare to that of the players who are actually playing. Uggggh still can’t believe I’m home but anyways that’s a totally different blog so let me get to the reason your here.
Seattle Storm (Bing) is up 1-0 in the series over Phoenix Mercury LifeLock. Click here to read my preview of Phoenix for Game 2.
MVP Lauren Jackson( LJ) has to have another MVP like performance to close this series out. Although she had a great game in game 1 she has the potential to be even better in game 2. She is MVP of the league for a reason and has been unstoppable all season. LJ wants more than the MVP recognition and will play like it on Sunday.
Sue Bird Bird and Tanisha Wright were decent in game 1 offensively but it was defensively that they made their presence felt.
Wright played great physical defense on Taurasi in game 1. She will need a lot more of that to contain her on Sunday. If she can’t bring the same defensive intensity again the she will have to offensively get into the paint and make things happen.
I saw Bird defending Penny Taylor at one point in the last game and she was quite effective. If she continues to do that and still hit her occasional big shots Seattle will be just fine.
With that being said Swin Cash( Swinny) has to come with her “A” game on both ends of the court. Swinny didn’t have the offensive game she wanted to have but was very instrumental on defense. She sometimes guarded ”DA Truth” (Diana Taurasi) and Penny Taylor and you have to give her a little credit for their offensive woes. That probably took away from her on the offensive end. If she can do good on both ends of the floor it will be big for Seattle.
X Factor Svetlana Abrosimova Svetty or Camille Little
Svetty(Abrosimova) was the X-Factor in the last game and that has to repeat itself on Sunday. She was crucial in their win at home and her 16pts were huge. Even if she doesn’t score 16 her being a threat Phoenix on the offensive end takes pressure off of LJ.
Camille Little’s last name doesn’t describe how she plays on the court. She plays big at the power forward position and she goes hard in the paint. Love my fellow Carolinian and I’m talking about the state not the University
-Go Wolfpack \m/. She as well as Svetty has to have a little more on Sunday or just be consistent from the last game and Seattle has a good chance of closing the series out.
That is the preview. . Yall come back now ya hear…
