Two much of a one man show pass the ball..
The NBA game is all about superstars and that is what the fans come to see. Everyone likes watching the scoring outputs these All-Star players provide. Everyone goes crazy over the highlight reel dunks and the top 10 plays of the week.
Lebron James Slam Dunk over John Lucas was jaw dropping. Derrick Rose floater over 3 defenders last night made you want to jump out of your seat. But then you have the selfish basketball. The kind that makes you ask yourself if Basketball is still a team sport.
What sticks out the most from the Heat/Bulls game is not the 35 pts James had or the 34pts Rose had. It’s the number of assist that each player had. Lebron finished with 5 assist and Rose finished with 6 assist. Lebron played 4o minutes and Rose played 44 minutes.
For almost 40 minutes in the game they could only muster 5 and 6 assist. Rose is the pt guard on the team and he had 6ast. The next player close to him with half the minutes, was Joakim Noah Center with 4ast, just two under Rose, the Pt Guard I remind you.

Maybe Rose expression would be different if he had hit Hamliton for the 15 footer
Rookie Norris Cole played 16mins and had 3 assist, 2 shy of James. With Rose and James going one against five for the majority of the game. You knew it was going to be a close one.
Imagine if one of these guys would have passed the ball more in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Maybe one of their teams could have gone up by 10 or more points.
Now if both of these guys would have dished the ball out more to their teammates, then it probably still would have came down to the wire. Maybe then James and Rose would have had more energy to make free throws and key baskets down the stretch.
I’m all for the entertainment that these players provide but I love the game more. Basketball is suppose to be a team sport. It just baffles me, as talented as they are as players, that they continue to miss open teammates or take horrible shots.
Maybe I’m old school on this one but it would have been nice to see Rose and James get double teamed last night become unselfish and kick it out to one of their open teammates. But that’s the NBA and nice to see, much less unselfish is not what these superstars are paid to be.
